Would the correct procedure than be to use the "open" command within the new correct portfolio to use the 'old' .dat file? Does using the 'open' command reorient, so too speak, the .dat file to the new portfolio?

: : I have just completed transfering 17 MF between Scottrade & Fidelity. The data files associated with the original brokerage, scottrade, are now closed and these files are created anew within fidelity.

: : Question: Is there a way to use the scottrade data files for the new fidelity ones? The old scottrade files have years of accumulated financial data, dividend, reinvestments, purchases, prices, etc., that are lost upon the completion of restaring in fidelity. The data files are named exactly the same between accounts, only the older one has more relevant financial data connected to them....

: Hi Steve,

: If you just transferred the holdings and the transaction history is
: still relevant, you should just copy or move the investment files,
: rather than creating new investments. Investments are stored as *.dat
: files, and you can either make a copy of them using Windows Explorer, or
: you can use Fund Manager to do a "File / Save Investment As...". You
: can make use of the Portfolio Editor to move around your investment
: files between sub-portfolios.

: Thanks,
: Mark
