: Well, I have transactions from the last five years on my portfolio. I have repeatedly downloaded the historical prices for the entire date range. It tends to take a very long time. I am trying to generate reports from the inception untill the end of that year. Then the whole next year and so on. The difficulty I am having is that I still own the stocks on the date I set the report end date, so there is an incorrect price on each stock recorded. I know this becase I check them with my statements from fidelity. The prices could possibly be different because the historical update could be importing the closing price for the day while I have the purchase price listed on my records, but I don't think this is the case because the numbers are too far off in some cases. Here is a Portfolio value report generated for Dec 31 2001. Here are a few holdings that are off.

: e - 12/31/2001

: Heres what the software has:

:
: Investment Name % Price Shares Value ($)
: DKE 28.70* 500.000 14,350.00 I have 26.35
: The Southern Company 22.64* 650.000 14,716.00 i have 25.35
: The Charles Schwab Corp. 28.44* 850.000 24,174.00 I have 15.47!!!!!!
: NIKE, Inc. 48.44* 0.000 0.00
: * = Interpolated Price

: Here is another possible problem. My statement records a total net worth that is vary close to the beiley portfolio value. But my ending market value is substantially less. Originally I thought the reports considered value to be the value of the holdings excluding the money market balance. Now I am not so sure.
: I know this is a lot to process at one time. I appriciate all your assistance so far in helping prepare the portfolio.
: Thanks

: : : I am trying to calculate the return of the portfolio from the date of inception to the closing of the same year. In order to do that I need the purchase price ( which I have) and I also need to know the price of the date of closing. The software does not seem to be able to find those prices from downloading historical prices from yahoo. I need to find a way to imput the closing prices manualy if we cannot gather them from a historical database.

: : Hi Eddie,

: : Have you confirmed the prices you need aren't on Yahoo (Historical)"? What ticker symbol and date are you not able to retrieve?

: : Thanks,

Hi Eddie,

It does indeed look like your closing prices haven't been updated. Can you verify that you have the symbols recorded properly? Look in Investment Properties.... Also, to look at your actual recorded prices look under the Data Register (Edit / All Data...) and choose the "Prices" data type. It is easier to see what is going on with your recorded prices here. For example, It looks like you don't have a price recorded for Charles Scwab on 12/31/2001. Try turning on confirmation notices under "Options / Preferences... / Display" and then do another retrieve from Yahoo (Historical). Just specify a short date range to do a test, like 12/15/2001 to 1/15/2002. Make sure it says some reasonable number of prices got updated, and then go back into the Data Register and look to make sure they are in there. If they're not getting updated, a common place to have a problem is with the recorded symbol. Also, you can check under Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve and make sure the investment is set to retrieve prices, and is using the default quote server. To set the default quote server to Yahoo (Historical) use "Options / Internet Settings...".

Thanks,
Mark
