It was indeed a corrupt .mm4 file. After opening a sample .mm4 file to get Fund Manager working, I closed that file and then opened each of my investments (.dat files). I then saved them as a new portfolio, which is working correctly.

: I suppose I should try recreating my portfolio file, which may in fact be corrupt.
