Already installed the program, is it too late?

The instructions say that I must trasnfer the registery settings before installing the program. I already installed the program on the new computer. Do I need to uninstall it and reinstall after transfering the registery?

BTW, it would be nice to have in the software a way to backup and to restore all the data and settings of the software for backup purposes and for migrating to new computer. Somthing that packs everything into a single file that you can easily cary around.
