: : I just downloaded and install the latest version of FM Personal (unregistered) (running under Win2K SP4).

: : 1. When I try to retrieve transactions from Scottrade, the Retrieving box is displayed, but nothing else happens for several minutes, so I press Cancel and then an error box pops up with "fm.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows....." and FM is then closed.

: : 2. When I try to retrieve transactions from Fidelity, only one fund of five is displayed (the only one with transactions in the last 30 days). Other funds which should be shown, but aren't, do have some info in ofxretr.txt and xmldump.txt. I have "all dates" and all "import options" checked.

: : TIA for whatever help I may receive!

: Hi Keith,

: #1) I just tested Scottrade, and it seems to be retrieving okay currently. Could you give it another try? Maybe there was a temporary connection problem? If you get that crash again, could you see if you can find an "address" and "code" for the violation, in the message windows that are displayed? If it is a reproducable problem, I could send you a debug version to output some more information.

: #2) The transaction retrieve in Fund Manager only retrieves "transactions", it does not retrieve the "positions". Technically, it does retrieve this information, but it doesn't make use of it currently... Different brokers make transactions available on their OFX servers for varying lengths of time. 90 days is rather common. It sounds like only this one fund has transactions available on the server. If this doesn't seem correct based on the logs, please let me know.

: Thanks,
: Mark

Fast Response from you, WOW!!!
1. I just retried Scottrade about 4 or 5 times. Each time FM produced an error message indicating that it couldn't make the connection (fair enough). Today, FM did NOT crash at all. I will try Scottrade again on Monday during their normal working hours. If you like, I saved one of the DrWatson error logs from yesterday and I could email it to you. E-mail me your address if you want it.

2. I believe you are correct. On line with them, I get 30 days transactions by default but can get much longer times by specifically choosing time segments up to 90 days long, but no more than 18 months old. I noticed some discussion on this board regarding Quicken. Does Quicken download positions as well as transactions? Downloading positions would be a big help.

Thanks for your help.
