: : : nothing against the australians, but how can i change the default quote server for new portfolios? all new ports seem to default to australian, until i change it to, eg, yahoo.

: : Hi Jeffrey,

: : When you create a new portfolio, the current default quote server will be the default for the new portfolio as well. The default quote server setting is memorized by your portfolio. Maybe you are creating a new portfolio starting from one that has the Australian quote server set as the default? If you change your default quote server, and then do a "File / Save Portfolio" this will memorize that as your new default quote server for that portfolio.

: : Thanks,

: i have checked all ports, some did have aus. as default. i never get quotes through those ports so never noticed. i suppose that it is possible that i had one of those open, closed it, and then started a new port. would this have caused the new port to assume aus as default? is there a setting for global default server?

There is a global preference that memorizes your last set default quote server, but it is changed each time you open a portfolio, as portfolios store this as well.

Thanks,
Mark
