: Vanguard switched my shares in Inflation-Protected Securities (investor) to Admiral shares. They say it is not a sale so there are no tax liability. Share price, quantity and ticker symbol changes but the value stays the same. I tried to treat this as a split and got everything messed up. Maybe there is something in HELP to walk me thru it, but I can't find it. Any directions would be appreciated.

: Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,

I'd suggest doing as you initially tried, record a split to change the number of shares you own. Let's say you owned 500.621 shares before, and 630.718 now. You would record a "630.718 for 500.621" split on the date of the conversion. This will adjust your share balance, and keep your value constant.

Also, go into the Investment Properties... dialog and change the Name and Symbol.

To see a list of any prior recorded split transactions open the Data Register (Edit / All Data...) and select the "Splits" data type. If you need to you can delete or modify any of these listed split transactions from here.

Thanks,
Mark
