: : : : : I am getting the following: error:0 returned from [closesocket], : : : : : after retriving updated prices from the internet. It updates the prices fine : : : : : and all seems well I just get the error. : : : : : I was not getting this error in FM ver5.2 but after updating to FM 5.3 or : : : : : updating McAfee VirusScan 5.0 to 6.0 updated both on the same day I started : : : : : getting the error. : : : : : Thanks for help : : : : Hi Gary, : : : : I don't see this as an error code FM would report. In the message : : : : box, what does it say in the title bar section? I have just e-mailed you : : : : the 5.2 version, so you can switch back to that and see if the problem : : : : persists or not. : : : : Thanks, : : : : Mark : : : : -- : : : : Mark Beiley : : : : : : : : Fund Manager, portfolio management software for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/00/XP : : : : /XP : : : : : : : Mark, Thanks for the quick return. : : : I uninstall FM5.3 and reinstalled FM5.2 and still get the same error. : : : I also tried different locations for retriving updated prices from the : : : internet, but same error. : : : I also tried creating a new portfolio and investment but still get the error : : : I can send you a jpg of the protfolio and error if you like. : : : Otherwise I guess I'll live with it. : : : Thanks, Gary : : Hi Gary, : : What is in the title bar of the message box? If it says "Fund Manager" : : then FM is reporting the error. If not, this may give a clue as to what : : is reporting the error. You might also search on Microsoft's or : : McAfee's web sites to see if they mention anything about such an error. : : Closesocket is a function call in "winsock", implemented in the "wsock32.dll". : : Thanks, : : Mark : Mark, : The error title bar has Fund Manager in it. : I looked in McAfee and didn't find anything but did reinstall the upgrade : that I have just in case. I also ran NT sp6, but all that didn't work either. : Thanks again, : Gary : : -- : : Mark Beiley : : : : Fund Manager, portfolio management software for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/00/XP : : /XP : : Hi Gary, I'm not sure what the problem could be. My best guess is that somehow your winsock DLL got replaced or corrupted. This is wsock32.dll. You might check with Microsoft or look on their web site to see how you could re-install this. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer, but I've never run into this problem before. If you'd like to spend some more time tracking this down I can work with you by building some custom versions of Fund Manager with debugging hooks to try and get some more information. Please e-mail me if you're interested. Thanks, Mark -- Mark Beiley
