: QUESTIONS: If I want to try out version 6.0 (currently on registered personal version 5.3); do I need to install 6.0 separately? Do dual updates until I decide? I want to check out the new version, but I don't want to change my existing setup until I actually decide to buy 6.0.
: Below is the upgrade info from your web page.

:
: If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Fund Manager here are some tips to make the upgrade go smoothly.
: The 6.0 versions use a new investment file format. The 6.0 versions can read all previous file formats, so you can continue to use your existing data. Once you save your investment files with a 6.0 version however, you will not be able to open those same files using earlier versions of Fund Manager. When you open investment files saved in an earlier file format Fund Manager will warn you about this as well.

: You can install the new version directly over your old version. During installation specify the directory where your current version is located (eg. C:\Program Files\Fund Manager). During installation the setup program will fill in the location of your current version by default, so you should not have to change anything. Your old version of Fund Manager will be overwritten. New samples will be installed in the samples sub-directory.

Hi Bob,

Yes, that would be safe. You can install 6.0 to a new directory, and make a
copy of your data files. Operate 6.0 on a copy of your data files. You
can either maintain both copies by doing dual updates, or just keep using
5.x and play with 6.0. You could even just use 6.0 to play with the samples
and not use your real data until you decide if you're going to switch.

Thanks,
Mark
