: : Hi Mark - I copied the contents of the my_data folder to my laptop. However, the copy of FM on the laptop does not recognize any of the files. I tried using the export command but kept getting a dialog box that said "Could not export file for fund x). The dialog box could not be cancelled or closed. Any idea what the problem is? Thanks - Mike F.

: Sounds like you are using portfolios saved with versions of FM prior to
: 4.0, which stored the path to their investments. If you copy this
: directory to your laptop, and it doesn't have the exact same full path,
: the portfolio won't be able to find the investment files.

: You should still be able to use "File/Open Investment(s)..." to open
: the investments, and then re-set up your portfolios on your laptop.

: This is more robust in 4.0 and later, as investment paths are stored
: relative to the portfolio. This way, you can copy a whole directory with
: your data, and move it anywhere, so portfolios can still find their investments.

: Thanks,
: Mark
