: Hi Mark! : I had already done the zeroing of shares with share display set to six decimal places. Is it possible that there are for example 0.0000000001 shares? : If so this would display 0.000000 shares. : If so, what can we do? What about exporting the data, deleting the investment, and importing it back. Will this get rid of the 0.00000000001? : Regards, Larry : : : I received a re-invested dividend for a unit stock fund in my 401K portfolio. : : : When I tried to put this into my 401K portfolio tracker portfolio, it "blew up" : : : the "distributions per share" because I had no shares in this investment option at the time of the dividend.
: : : The tables look OK (Prices, Investments etc) but the graph for that unit stock fund went bananas after the date of the dividend. : : : Am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick to make the distributions per share not blow up? : : : Regards, Larry : : : : Hi Larry, : : I would guess you own a very small number of shares (not 0), thus FM : : is calculating your dist/share for you. When it is 0, FM will prompt you : : for the dist/share to use, othewise it calculates it automatically. : : Use "Options/Preferences..." to turn up the share digit display, and : : then use "Edit/All Data..." to fix your transactions, so you have your : : desired 0 shares. You will have to edit that distribution, to get prompted : : for the dist/share. : : Thanks, : : Mark : : -- : : Mark Beiley : : : : Fund Manager for Windows 3.1x/95/98/NT : : : : Hi Larry, Sorry for missing this follow-up. Yes, it is possible that you may have 0.0000001 shares. One way to avoid this is to make sure you don't have any transactions (or share balances) that go past the 3rd significant digit, as this is usually where fund companies round your share balance to whenever you make a transaction. FM does check to see if you have exactly 0 shares before prompting you for a distribution/share. Maybe this should be changed so that it prompts you if you have less shares than you can view (past 6th significant digit)... I'll have to give this some thought for a future release, but that sounds like it may be a good solution. Thanks, Mark -- Mark Beiley
