: : : : : : I currently have Ver 4.3.215 loaded, and I have been experiencing program lockup when I try and overlay more than 4 or 5 funds. With one portfolio it is 4, and another portfolio 5. I have to use Task Manager to get out of FM. With previous versions this never occurred. Any ideas?? : : : : : What do things look like when it "locks up"? Is the cursor an hourglass, do : : : : : you see any part of the graph, etc... ? : : : : : Thanks, : : : : : Mark : : : : Mark, : : : : On the portfolio that locks up on a request for 5 funds (works OK with 1 to 4), the conditions are as follows: : : : : 1.Cursor goes to hourglass for 1 sec, then normal arrow. : : : : 2.Toolbar is "grayed" out. Can't access. : : : : 3.Lower icons are normal, but unresponsive. Get critical "beep" when try to push. : : : : 4.Correct fundnames (all 5) are listed across top of graph. : : : : 5.Upper and lower %'s are posted (I'm assuming values are OK). : : : : 6.Blue outline box for the graphs is defined. : : : : 7.Black background with no graphs at all. All black. : : : : 8.Can't close FM using X or normal exit. Must use Task Manager to close. : : : : 9. Seems to be variable in that a portfolio with only 10 funds in it will only graph 3 funds, while a portfolio with 40 funds will do 4. Everything else seems to be OK. After loading the new .dll this morning to correct the Internet downloads, everything else seems to be OK. Can't tell if I had the problem before the .dll download. If I can do anything else to help localize the problem, please let me know. : : : : Thanks, Art : : : Hi Art, : : : Thanks, nice detailed description. A couple more questions... Can you : : : reproduce this after you reboot your computer? Could your free memory be : : : running low? Did you ever have this problem with any earlier version of FM? : : : Thanks, : : : Mark : : Mark, : : I have rebooted at least 6 times today with the same results. I've never encountered this with any other version of FM. I also don't think its a free memory problem as I'm equipped with 128MB of RAM, and only running a minimum of background TSRs. Whats the best way to monitor Free memory during operation of FM. System Tools? : : Just ran it gain, and got a slightly different response this time. I set the date range to a minimum (1/1/2000 to 1/11/2000)to minimize data calculation, and got a GP error instead of total system lockup. The GP error is as follows: : : FM caused an exception 10H in module FM.EXE at 0197:004b1235. : : Registers: : : EAX=00000020 CS=0197 EIP=004b1235 EFLGS=00010202 : : EBX=004c480a SS=019f ESP=0068db5c EBP=0068de34 : : ECX=00000004 DS=019f ESI=ffffffff FS=30e7 : : EDX=004c4731 ES=019f EDI=00000008 GS=0000 : : Bytes at CS:EIP: : : 9b c3 66 8b 85 36 fd ff ff 66 25 f0 7f 66 0b c0 : : Stack dump: : : 004b11d0 004cd080 9999999a 3fb99999 3433393a 39393939 39393939 004af229 00000035 0068de18 0068dbd0 00000002 00000005 00000050 00000066 004af027 : : Any help?? : Mark, : Thought it might be graph dependent (was using price only), so tried it with Price +Div and got the following GP error. : FM caused an exception 10H in module FM.EXE at 0197:004b1235. : Registers: : EAX=00000020 CS=0197 EIP=004b1235 EFLGS=00010202 : EBX=004c480a SS=019f ESP=0068db58 EBP=0068de30 : ECX=00000004 DS=019f ESI=ffffffff FS=1357 : EDX=004c4731 ES=019f EDI=00000008 GS=0000 : Bytes at CS:EIP: : 9b c3 66 8b 85 36 fd ff ff 66 25 f0 7f 66 0b c0 : Stack dump: : 004b11d0 00000018 9999999a 3fb99999 00003532 0068dc06 00000002 004af229 00000030 0068de14 0068dbcc 00000002 00000006 00000050 00000066 004af027 : Program shuts down after I read the Gp error. : Art Hi Art, This is crashing in the C run time library, which I have never seen before. I will e-mail you the 4.2 version. Why don't you install that over your 4.3, and see if that causes this same error. The other things we could try are re-installing 4.3 (maybe you've already tried that?), and running in Safe mode, with all of your other TSR and any other programs turned off, this way we can check with any potential conflicts with other programs.
