: : I have changed the location of the data directory. Of course the Portfolios no longer point to the correct files. Can I change the directory that the portfolios want to look at? (description of the full file path in portfolio)

: Hi Charlie,
: Which version of FM are you using? As of FM 4.0 and later, portfolios
: now store the path to their investments, as relative to the location
: of the portfolio file itself. This allows you to move your whole data
: directory to a new location, without having to modify your portfolio.
: If you are using an older version of FM, or the relative path changed,
: you will have to either re-create or modify your portfolios. Portfolios
: are fairly easy to re-create as you can open multiple investments at once
: with the "File/Open Investment(s)..." command. Portfolio files (*.mm4) are
: just text files, so if you want, you can edit them with a text editor, to
: update the path of the investments. A global search/replace could come
: in handy.

: Thanks,
: Mark

Looking at a hex dump of the *.dat files, the full path is stored there. How does that get changed if i create a whole new path to the program and data files?
