: I know how to add an investment to a portfolio. However, can I add a portfolio to an existing portfolio to form a larger portfolio?

: For example, I have a regular IRA portfolio with a couple of funds. I also have a Roth IRA portfolio with a couple of funds. Can I somehow make a Total IRA Portfolio by adding portfolios without having to add the separate funds? It would save steps. Thanks.

Hi John,
Sorry, no, you can't do this. You can however add multiple investments
to a portfolio at once. To select multiple investments hold down the
Ctrl or Shift keys while selecting your investments in the "Open Investment"
dialog.

Portfolios are just text files, so if you felt comfortable doing so, you
could edit your portfolio manually. The first section of a portfolio
lists the investment files. You could use cut/paste to copy all the investments
from one portfolio file to another. The file format must remain precise, so
be careful if you do this, to maintain the same format as you see. For example,
make sure not to leave blank lines, and have the date range line listed
after each investment. This is not the intended method of modifying portfolios,
but you could do it this way.

Thanks,
Mark
