Mark .. Yes, that is what I was asking for, another "Investment Type" category that would include the "balanced fund" where stocks and bonds are included and you could assign a portion to each. I think this is the most important asset allocation and the one I try to keep track of. It would just be easier. I could create two investments of each balanced fund, one for the stock and one for bonds but then you have too many shares. Just thought I would throw it out there to see how others deal with it.
BTW .. great program, I have sent many your way.

: : Under Invsetment Properties I have set up the "Asset Type" labels in accordance with Morningstar's nine style box.. (Large Value, Mid Value, Small Value..etc) and labels for different bond types and cash.

: : I have set up labels under the "Investment Goal" for a more broader overview including, Large Cap, Mid Cap, International, Reits, Fixed Income, Money Market..etc

: : I am only tracking mutual funds but my problem comes when I try to include a balanced fund of stocks and bonds. You have to chose stock or bond on creating a new investment. I can go to "Investment Goals" reports or graphs and things are shown correctly but the "Asset Allocation" reports or graphs will not be correct.

: : Has anybody found an easy/other way around this?

: : PS .. I would love to see a M* nine box graph included sometime. Great program!

: Hi Steve,

: There are 3 groupings you're describing here:

: Asset Type
: Investment Goal
: Investment Type

: You can graph/report based on any of these.

: For the first 2 (Asset Type/Investment Goal) you can customize these categories, and assign an individual investment into different percentages of these categories.

: For the "Investment Type" you must choose one, you can't break it up into percentages of investment types. I believe you're asking for this capability?

: Thanks,
: Mark
