I had to reinstall FM but have a backup of my directory from before the reinstall. I've restored my fund data files, but my goals and asset types are not correct. : : : Can you provide guidance? : : It looks like these may be stored in the registry. Since my computer blew, does that mean I have no way to recover my categories? Why wouldn't FM store this data in files in its own directory? : Hi Bob, : Yes, these are stored in the registry. All of the global preferences for Fund Manager are stored in the registry here: : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Beiley Software\Fund Manager : and specifically the asset labels are stored here: : Asset Type Labels : and the goal labels here: : Investment Goal Labels : Fund Manager stores global preferences for the program in the registry, as this is the intended place for programs to store such information. I can see the argument that these should also be stored in portfolio files, but they aren't currently. : Thanks, So, does the documentation discuss a way to backup and then restore "user options" like this? I have now (mostly) restored onto new pc and would like to back up options so recreation next time is less cumbersome. Thank you.
