: Hi,
: I am using Fundmanager 8.4 (licensed). Until including April 11th, I could get a price update for my German stocks. After April 11th prices don't get updated anymore.
: For all of them I use either the WKN, or the ISIN as symbol
: Example:
: Alianz (Insurer)
: ISIN: DE0008404005.DE
: WKN: 840400.DE
: Yahoo symbol: ALV.DE
: If I go to http://de.finance.yahoo.com/ and type DE0008404005.DE or 840400.DE, I still get the current price. Only not in Fundmanager anymore (retrieve server set to Yahoo Germany)
: DE stands for Xetra Stock Exchange Germany.
: Now, if I use the symbol ALV.DE (symbol can be found in the link to further info to a stock) in Fundmanager I still get the price.
: From IE the following links all work and deliver the same:
: http://de.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=840400.DE
: http://de.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ALV.DE
: Note, using the symbol ALV.de would be very inconvenient, as in Germany the ISIN and WKN are the standards used everywhere - including brokers, stockexchange, yahoo from IE ..... So I would have to change all my investments in Fundmanager to symbols, that are not used anywhere else!
: Please help and advise.

: Thank you very much,
: Helmut

Hi Helmut,

Nicely documented question, thanks for the detail. That makes it easier for me. Fund Manager gets price updates from the CSV download link on Yahoo. So, if you browse to any of the above quotes, and then at the bottom/center of the price table there is a link labeled:

Kursdaten downloaden

and the link points to:

http://de.old.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=ALV.DE&f=sl1d1t1c1ohgv&e=.csv

It appears that no matter which way you request the quote (ISIN/WKN/Symbol) all of these links provide the quote with the Yahoo symbol in the downloaded CSV file. This means FM will only be able to match up the quote if you have the yahoo symbol recorded in FM.

For example, if you (or FM) download this link:

http://de.old.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=840400.DE&f=sl1d1t1c1ohgv&e=.csv

the resulting CSV file has the Yahoo symbol in it, and not the WKN as specified in the request.

I'm not sure why this was working before and not now, but it must have been because the request used to return whatever was requested, but apparently now, it always returns the Yahoo symbol. Unfortunately, I don't see a way around this if you want to retrieve from this server. You would need to use the Yahoo symbol.

Thanks,
Mark
