I'll check what it gives me when I get home, but going by memory it looks about right. The program does require you to explicitely indicate that something is a Short Sell (not a normal sell) and a Cover Short (not a normal buy). I speculate they did it because of the problems you brought up. They give themselves more info to modify their algorithms in case of short sales. : : Are you actively interested in adding this feature (even if it requires adding two new kinds of transactions)? : : I really like your software, but not suporting short sales gains/yields is a huge limitation in my case. : : .luca : Hi Luca, : I'm not an expert in MS Money, but I took a look, and was only able to get it to calculate a %Gain for a short position. I could not make it calculate a time weighted yield, like an ROI yield. If you know how to do this in Money, please let me know. : Reporting %Gains for short positions is something we can fix. These equations make sense. It is the time weighted yield equations that I'm not sure how to apply to a short position... : Thanks,
Regarding the time weighted yield, I don't know the answer. I will investigate a bit more. I'd be curious to know how CapTools does it. BTW: FM is a great piece of software: many compliments. The more I use it, the more I enjoy it. .luca
