: Mark,
: Thanks - I would like to participate in the beta of FM 8.7, and will send you an email.
: I understand how the report works on Beg Value and %Gain-V, however what I am having a problem with is that to display a Beg Value I have to manipulate the report start day, and that will only work on the one investment whose Beg Value is on that date. Since my portfolio's contain hundreds of different investments, with Beg Value dates going back nearly twenty years, the report on the Beg Value and %Gain-V fields are pretty well useless. Now in the custom report settings there is a %Gain-V (inception) which calculates the %Gain-V correctly, but there is no Beg Value (inception). If that field was available, then I could replicate the canned Portfolio Performance report and see all of my investments in a fashion that is meaningful to me.
: Thanks,
: Gary T.

Hi Gary,

I received your email, and have just now forwarded you the 8.7 pre-release. Let me know if that doesn't fix the issues with the 'N/A' %gains.

The Portfolio Performance report has a start date (and end date) that is the same for all displayed line items. The intention of this report is to look at performance over a specified time period, not from inception for each item to a given end date.

I think you are looking for a report with a varying effective start date for each investment, like the Custom report with the %Gain-V (inception) field. I do think it would be a good idea to add more "inception" custom fields, like "Beg Value (inception)" to the custom report. We can consider this for a future release.

Thanks,
Mark
