: Data from the Open Financial Exchange is sometimes inaccurate. As a consequence, one frustration of retrieving transaction data is that I'll have a subportfolio finely tuned, and then, when additional data is retrieved over OFX, the previously hand-tuned subportfolio is rendered inaccurate once again.

: So, is there a way to lock previously entered data?

: I know it is possible to retrieve data only between 2 specific dates for subportfolios, but I'd like to download data for an entire list of subportfolios AT ONCE, and date-specific retrievals aren't especially helpful in this context.

Hi SteveS,

There are a couple of tips I could offer.

1) Make good use of the "Transaction Preview" dialog. This is the screen that is shown right after you do a transaction retrieve. It lists all the details of all the transactions retrieved. You can preview what was downloaded, and if anything isn't what you want, you can un-check it, or simply cancel the whole thing at this point.

2) If for some reason you do go past the transaction preview dialog, and later decide it wasn't right, you can still quit without saving. (It might be a good idea to save right before doing an OFX retrieve you're concerned about.). To quit without saving make sure "Options / Save Investments On Exit" is not checked, and then quit Fund Manager. It will ask you if you want to save, and you can just say "no".

I'm curious which OFX server you're using, and what data you're finding inaccurate? If it happens consistenly you might want to talk to your broker about getting it corrected. I'm coming to the conclusion that some brokers and mutual fund companies put more effort into ensuring the quaility of this data than others.

Thanks,
Mark
