: Is it possible to save altered subportfolio data separately from a master portfolio. If so, how is this accomplished?

: Thank you for any assistance.

Hi SteveS,

Are you asking about saving the investments (*.dat), or the portfolio (*.mm4)?

Every investment is stored as its own *.dat file. The investment file contains the priceing/transactions/properties for that investment.

The portfolio file (*.mm4) saves all your subportfolio definitions, which investmetns are in each subportfolio, and your workspace preferences, like colors, etc...

I suspect you may be asking how to save a subportfolio to a separate portfolio file? If so, you can use copy/paste to do this. You can copy/paste across portfolios and different instances of Fund Manager even. You can copy/paste selected investments or a whole group of subportfolios, and all their contents. Just select whatever you want to copy in the Portfolio Editor, and then use "Edit / Copy". Go to wherever you want to put it (maybe in a new empty portfolio), and do an "Edit / Paste". You do all of this from within the Portfolio Editor.

Thanks,
Mark
