: : To reset your .QFX extension you can either do it manually with Windows Explorer or many programs will do it for you. To do it manually, just open up Windows Explorer and go to "Tools / Folder Options... / File Types" and select the extension and then click "Change..." to pick the program you want to use.

: That is what I did, but by doing that I am no longer able to go into the Advanced settings, downloads of .QFX now ask if I really want to do the download and I am now shown the Fund Manager Icon. I am shocked and annoyed that you overwrote the original settings without asking and without saving what they were to make a recovery easy.

: : If you are associating this with Quicken you can just let Quicken do it for you. Most versions will check at startup, and ask if you'd like to re-assign Quicken to be the default handler.

: The "Canadian Edition Quicken 2002 Deluxe" does not do this.

Hi Peter,

Did you first go into Fund Manager under "Options / Preferences... / Other" and turn off the option to associate QFX with FM? You'll want to turn that off and then make the change in Windows Explorer. If you're still seeing the FM icon for QFX files, the association hasn't been updated quite right. It is also possible that some programs (like your web browser) may cache the association info, and would need to be re-started. If this doesn't help, please fill out our email contact form and provide your phone number. I'll give you a call and walk you through getting it reset the way you want. I apologize for the inconvenience, it really wasn't my intention.

Thanks,
Mark
