: Hi Mark,

: I always seem to have problems with the first use of transactions when I want the transactions to go to an existing investment. It always creates a new investment instead. It doesn't seem to look for and match by symbol or investment name.

Hi Cliff,

Are you "retrieving" transactions, or how are you updating them? If you are using the transaction retrieve feature to get transactions from your broker/fund company, then you will want to make sure the CUSIP field is entered correctly on your investments. When the transaction retrieve creates new investments for you it will set the CUSIP field properly. If you manually created the investment the CUSIP field may not be set.

A useful tip here is to allow the retrieve to go ahead and temporarily make the new investment. Then, you can see what the CUSIP is supposed to be, and assign that to your already existing investment. You can then delete that newly created investment, or just exit without saving.

Thanks,
Mark
