: Dear Mark:

: I am trying to import transactions from Vanguard using
: Edit > InternetRetrieve>Transactions.
: When the RetrieveTransactions dialog appears, I set the appropriate TransactionRetrieveSettings. I have selected dates corresponding to the most recent statement from Vanguard, checked “SkipTransactions…” and Import “Investment Banking Transactions …” whatever that means.

: I have both bonds and stocks in this account. When I get the Preview screen, I get what I expect for the stocks in the account. If there is a dividentd it is shown with a red horizontal arrow (which I presume means “money into the default cash account” and a vertical green arrow showing a corresponding buy (dividend reinvestment).

: An interest payment for a bond is, however, shown as a down-pointing red arrow and a note sell -277.5.

: I went ahead and imported the transactions and found that the dividend payment from the bond is shown as a Sell in the VanguardPrime (default cash) account as $-277 but it does not affect the balance.

: I believe that this transaction should increase the value of the VanguardPrime balance. What am I doing wrong?

: A second issue.

: Can I import bond prices from my Vanguard account? Vanguard posts the new prices each month and the only other way I know to get the new prices in is to do it by hand.

: Thank you in advance for your help.

: R. Berliner

Hi Ron,

I'm not sure what the problem is with the bond transaction. Are you sure this is a dividend payment? Can you look up the details on the Vanguard web site, and let me know the specifics? Please email me your "ofxretr.txt" file in your Fund Manager folder, right after retrieving the account that contains this transaction. I can take a closer look. I've just now sent you an email, so you'll have our email address for this attachment.

On the price question: Can you download those prices in some electronic format? If so, what format options are available? You can see "File / Import / Prices" for all the price import options.

Thanks,
Mark
