: : : In setting up assets for foreign currency comparisons, USD to AUD, I see no difference when running the "exchange rate adjusted" reports. What am I doing wrong?

: : : I first set up AUD->USD investment using the symbol "USDAUD = X", added the current exchange rate in the description line and included in portfolio as an asset (or should this be in a separate portfolio named "exchange rates"?). Then, setting up a new investment using, from the drop down menu currency symbol choices, the 2nd $ (assume 1st $ is US & 2nd $ AUD or does it matter?)

: : : Thank you.

: : Hi Chris,

: : After creating this investment, you must "assign" it to a particular currency under "Options / Currency Settings...". For a tutorial on setting this up, please see:

: Mark - I assigned a currency to my investment "AUD->USD" but still unable to pull a currency exchange report. Could the problem be that both the US & AU currencies use the $ sign? Do I need to assign a currency to each Australian asset in the portfolio as well?

: Thank you.

Hi Chris,

It doesn't matter what currency is assigned to the exchange rate investment itself (AUD->USD) under "Investment Properties... / General". You must assign the exchange rate investment (AUD->USD) to be the exchange rate for a particular currency using "Options / Currency Settings...".

If both US and AU use the same $ sign it may be confusing, but the exchange rate adjustment will still work properly. You can adjust these currency symbols under "Options / Currency Settings...".

Yes, for each investment in your Austrailian portfolio you must assign those investments to the Australian currency under "Investment Properties... / General". Likewise, for every investment trading in US$ you must assign them to the correct currency.

The tutorial on using this feature is shown here:

Thanks,
Mark
