: All of a sudden, my main portfolio graph has gotten lost. I have three portfolios (Joe IRA, Mary IRA, Joint acct). I have created a fourth portfolio, called "Combined", which includes all the stocks in the other three. The purpose of this is so that I can update all the stocks from one portfolio, and I can see the total value of all three portfolios as one.
: I have always been able to open the combined portfolio as a value-cost graph. Now when I try to open it is only shows the Joe IRA portfolio--what have I done?
: The top of the window for any of the single portfolios shows
: "Fund Manager Personal -[Graphs- Joe IRA Schwab.mm4 (Master Portfolio)]".
: Now when I open the combined acct I get Joe's IRA data and the top of the window says "Fund Manager Personal -[Graphs- Combined Schwab.mm4 (Joe's IRA)]".
: What have I done and can it be returned to previous status?

Hi Joe,

When your window shows this:

"Fund Manager Personal - [Graphs- Combined Schwab.mm4 (Joe's IRA)]"

That means the name of your currently opened portfolio file is "Combined Schwab.mm4", and the "Active" sub-portfolio is called "Joe's IRA". Starting in versions 7.x you can have sub-portfolios. The graph window is set to display the active sub-portfolio. You can change which sub-portfolio is active under "Investments / Set Active Portfolio", or you can set this from within the Portfolio Editor. The sub-portfolio with the red check mark on it is the active sub-portfolio.

I would suggest just having a single portfolio file (*.mm4), and using sub-portfolios. This way, you don't need to maintain 4 separate portfolio files, just 1. Your "combined" sub-portfolio would include your other 3, so any changes you make in these lower level sub-portfolios are automatically reflected in the higher level one. For more on this, you can read through this tutorial to give you an idea on using sub-portfolios:
