Re: splits - rounding # shares[ Message Board ] [ Archives ] [ Search ] Posted by Mark on August 18, 2006 at 11:28:19: In Reply to: splits - rounding # shares posted by mike on August 18, 2006 at 11:09:57: : After I recorded a split, the # shares FM shows is off by .001 from my brokerage statement. The # shares I had pre-split was 105.171, and the split was 3 for 2, so I should've received 52.5855 shares, which the brokerage rounded to 52.586. FM seems to have rounded to 52.585. Is there some way I can adjust for this so that FM matches my statement?
Fund Manager tracks your share balance out to 6 digits to the right of the decimal. You can control how many digits are actually being displayed. It sounds like you're only seeing 3. For reports, this is set at "Options / Report Preferences...". For everywhere else this is set at "Options / General Preferences...". You might want to turn up the display to 6 and see exactly what you have recorded in FM. If you lost/gained some fractional shares you can record it however your broker made that happen. Maybe you really didn't get a 3 for 2, and it was a 157.757 for 105.171 or something like that. Or, maybe you got a 3 for 2, but had a sell of some fractional number of shares. Whatever your broker did you should record in FM. If you're not sure what happened to any fractional shares you can call your broker and ask. Thanks,
