: I have FM 7.7 Yield Preferences setup for 1mo, 3mo, 6mo, 1yr, 3yr & 5yr report display. When selecting an ROI Yield report with an ending date for last day of the month, for this example November 30/06. The report calculates yields for period start dates of Oct 30, Aug 30 and May 30. In this situation, is there any way to get yield calculations based on period start dates for the last day of each month (ie. Oct 31, Aug 31, May 31). I'm trying to create a report that mirrors published performance reports.

Hi Clive,

This has been improved in the 8.x versions. In versions prior to 8.x, FM would go back the specified number of months from the ending yield term date. For example, if you were going back 1 month, the 7.x yields terms would include:

12/31 -> 12/1
11/30 -> 10/31
10/30 -> 10/1

In 7.x the algorithm was to go back one month, and then add a day. In cases where the prior month had more days than the ending month, you would end up with a yield term different than what you may want. For example, 11/30 back one month would go back and include 10/31. As of 8.x this was improved, so if the ending yield term date was the last day of the month, it just goes back to the beginning of the month in question. For example, the 8.x algorithm would provide:

12/31 -> 12/1
11/30 -> 11/1
10/31 -> 10/1

which is probably what you're looking for. So, the short answer, is that you would get what you want by using 8.x.

Thanks,
Mark
