Unable to retrieve prices from internet

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby kamlesh » Thu Jul 04, 2013 9:25 pm

I'm unable to retrieve stock prices for stocks listed in Indian stock exchanges(BSE and NSE) since yesterday. The popup message shows that it is retrieving some data but in the end it gives error message "Could not update investments" "One or more servers were unable to retrieve prices....".

I'm using Yahoo and Yahoo-India as Quote servers. I'm able to get historical data from Yaho-Historical.

FM 11.9 version
"Currently using Quote Module version 443, latest available is 443"

Could you please help me with this problem?

Regards
Kamlesh

Hi Kamlesh,

Did you check on the quote server's website you're using if they still offer the symbols you're requesting? If so, and you can't get updates in FM, please provide me a sample ticker symbol and quote server you're using.
Thanks,
Mark

It's not an issue with symbols. I checked the quote server website and the symbols are correct and I can get live quotes on website.

Quote Server - Yahoo India (http://in.finance.yahoo.com)
Sample symbols: MNM.BO, EIL.BO, BHEL.NS, TECHM.NS

Quote server Yahoo also supports these symbols. Even that is not working.

Hi Kamlesh,

The quotes display on Yahoo, but not in the area retrieved by Fund Manager. If you look up a symbol, like:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=MNM.BO

and scroll down to the bottom right, there is a link under "Toolbox", labelled "Download Data (delayed)". This link downloads a .CSV file, which is what FM retrieves and attempts to import from. For some reason, this symbol has "N/A" for all the data. Hopefully this is a temporary issue, that they will resolve, otherwise you can try another server, like Bloomberg, or you can stick with the working Yahoo (Historical).
Thanks,
Mark
