Install in drive other than C:\

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Glenn Hall » Thu Jul 10, 2008 12:29 pm

Mark,

I am installing Fund Manager in another drive besides C:\ and would like to have all of the associated files to be stored on the new drive as the C:\ drive is dedicated to the operating system.

Irregardless of the installation procedure I use, the end result shows that files are stored in C:\.......\My Documents\Fund Manager\

In searching the help files along with the various tabs on the header of the program I have not found information or the ability to do that. I have tried using cut and paste to the new drive with an associated update of the file transfer but then the program fails to function correctly.

In one of the older series I had managed to do this but I cannot recall how it was done. Your help with this minor problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Glenn,

When you start FM, it automatically re-opens your last portfolio file (*.mm4). The portfolio file opens the investment files too. The location of these investment files is stored in a relative manner in the portfolio file, so if you have all your data files in one folder on the C: drive, just copy that whole folder over to the new drive. After you start FM, use "File / Open Portfolio..." to go open the portfolio file from this new drive.
Thanks,
Mark
