Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby jb3 » Tue Nov 19, 2013 1:30 pm

Hi Mark

When I try to access Morgan Stanley to download transactions, I get an pop-up error message: Signon Invalid. Failed to authenticate user: [username].

I can log in to www.morganstanleyclientserv.com using the same username.

I am using Windows XP, IE 8 (work offline is unchecked). Fund Manager 11.5, quote module 450, transaction modules 179 and 180.

Thanks for your help.

Hi John,

We have some tips for using this server here:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/tint ... an_Stanley

which say:

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management:
Before retrieving, you must "enable downloads" on your account. Also, when entering your account number use the first 9 digits.

You should use transaction module 180 also.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Mark, for your usual quick reply.

Per Morgan Stanley tech support, there is no way for a user to "enable download". The user should be able to log in to third party software with only a valid user name and password--but I cannot. I am working with MS tech support to resolve the problem and will report back on the results.

Hi Mark

I can now download Morgan Stanley transactions into FM, but I am not sure exactly why.

When Fund Manager initially tried to download transactions a few days ago, Morgan Stanley "failed to authenticate" the log-in information. Using a browser, I successfully logged-in to the MS account, but immediately got a prompt requiring me to change the password, which I did. However, Fund Manager still "failed to authenticate" using the new password.

I called MS and understood a tech to say that I had to wait 24 hours to use a new password with third party software. After 24 hours, I still could not log in, but re-entered the new password and was successful.
