I used the Yahoo historical prices server to retrieve daily exchange rates between USD and CAD using ticker symbol in the subject heading. However, now it seems i am getting error on retrieval and updates are not taking place! Has yahoo server discontinued this? Any alternatives?
Hi sponge,
To the best of my knowledge, Yahoo has never offered historical quotes (only current) for exchange rates. There are other choices though. See: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq_ ... wnload.php
Hi Mark and Sponge,
Format code for currencies has changed on Bloomberg. Instead of XXXYYY:IND (i.e : CADUSD:IND), you should use XXXYYY:CUR (CADUSD:CUR). Regards.
Hi Djobydjoba,
Thanks for the correction. I've updated the FAQ.
Thanks. I got exchange rates from Bloomberg but they don't go far back... so i downloaded from OANDA as suggested in csv file.
Trying to import with the instructions given, i get the following error: The specified input format did not match any lines in the imported file.
Hi sponge,
I find it helpful to open up the CSV file in Notepad, and make sure it looks as you're expecting. If you view a CSV file in Excel there may be extra characters (like quotes) that you don't see. If you still have troubles, please send us the format string and settings you're using, along with a sample line from your CSV file. Instructions for importing from Oanda are here: http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq_ ... wnload.php So, if you open up your CSV file in Notepad, each line should look something like: "2013-12-19","1.25" to match the format string you specify of: "YY-MM-DD","NAV"
