user defined custom report fields - if function

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

Hi Mark,

I have been trying to use the IF function inclluded as a user defined custom field. Unfortunately, if i try to use it for anything other than the simplest formula, it shows an error and will not work. Nested IF functions do not work, AND, OR does not work, should it work? Can you please give some guidance as to what your incuded functions actually are? Thanks.

Hi manageruser,

You can't use AND or OR, those aren't available functions. You can see all the available functions, and examples here:

http://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/help ... nsert.html

The documentation shows an example of a nested IF function.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
The following formula worked fine;
IF(collatratio>1,IF(End_value<OOPbasis_end,(End_value*collatratio),(OOPbasis_end*collatratio)),IF(End_value<1,End_value,(End_value*collatratio)))
This is really good. I hope you can put more formulas in and also, I wonder if it is possible to show errors like in Excel (I know, I'm pushing it but...).

Now another problem; for collatratio, a Custom Investment Property, I needed it not to combine and so I set the combinaton method to "none".

The problem is, in the formula column (Collateral value) the results do not subtotal or total. I imagine adding numbers together in the column should be doable, what am I doing incorrectly? Thanks Mark.

Hi manageruser,

Glad you got the equation working. Thanks for the feedback on error reporting.

If you set the "Combination Method" for your custom investment property to "None (do not combine)", then you will only see figures reported at the investment level. It will not combine or report figures for objects comprising multiple investments, like sub-portfolios. If you want totals, change it to however you want it to combine values from multiple investments. For example, if you want it simply to sum them, change the combination method to "Sum".
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

It appears to work as advertised. I'll need to wait until I am more rested before confirming 100% though.
Goos stuff, thanks Mark.
