foreign exchange gain or loss

Questions on using, creating, or understanding data in Fund Manager reports.

I hold US and Canadian securities. I can see a gain or loss in the securities native currency or in my home currency. When I view a report in my home currency, is there any way to see what part of the gain or loss is attributable to a currency fluctuation?

Hi bagmore,

Interesting question... I can't think of a way to easily do that now. This might be a good field to make available in a Custom report. For now, the only ways I can think of to get this are:

1) Look at the gain with the exchange rate option on/off and determine the difference manually

2) Set up another investment that owns a certain number of shares in the non-default currency, at a price of 1. The number of shares would be however many shares you own in this non-default currency investment. Keep the price fixed at 1. When you view your data in the default currency this investment's gain/loss will show you how much is just from the currency variation.
Thanks,
Mark
