Reconciliation function stopped working

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby rodiy2k » Tue Jan 06, 2015 10:40 am

Hello
I have been successfully using the reconciliation function for over 4 years for my brokerage accounts at TD Ameritrade and Fidelity

This function stopped working about a month or two ago; I upgraded to the latest version and still get the following error message:

Post HttpSendRequest
WinInet error code: 1209
Message: A connection with the server could not be established

Can someone please help me get re-connected? None of my account information has changed ayt the brokerage firms

Thanks

Hi rodiy2k,

It looks like you are missing a digit in that error code.

1) What is the WinInet error code you're getting?
2) What version of Windows and Internet Explorer do you have installed?
3) What version of the transaction module do you have installed? See "Help / About...".
Thanks,
Mark

Hi rodiy2k,

The 12029 error is usually due to a firewall program blocking FM's access to the internet. When this happens usually you can't do anything related to the internet, like retrieve prices, or check for updates with "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...". Do these other functions work in FM? Can you check and see if you can give permission through your firewall software for FM to access the internet?
Thanks,
Mark

every other function using the internet works fine (price retrieval etc). I update my portfolio daily but now I have to manually reconcile since I have no clue why only the recon function does not work

I am not geeky enough to understand have anything firewall related; I use Kaspersky anti-virus and that's it; as I said, this worked fine for 5 years and just stopped working a few months ago.

Any suggestions?

Hi rodiy2k,

Are you getting this same error message for both Fidelity and TD Ameritrade accounts? If so, please go into your Windows Control Panel and temporarily disable your firewall program, and see if that fixes the problem. See:

Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall

and then "Turn Windows Firewall On or Off".

If turning off your firewall fixes the problem, then you need to somehow adjust the settings of whatever firewall program you're using to have it allow FM to access the internet.
Thanks,
Mark
