General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Good morning,
I am trying to retrieve historical transactions for AGL Energy (AGK.AX) but I get a message saying "Could not update any investments" and the log file gives me this:
Retrieve Starting Quote Module Version = 478 Retrieving from server: (YAHOO-HISTORICAL) Requested Historical Retrieve Dates: 6/30/2011 - 4/27/2015 Requesting: "AGK.AX" WARNING: Server used but did not update any prices: (YAHOO-HISTORICAL) Retrieving from server: (YAHOO-HISTORICAL)
Can you help?
Thank you,
Sophie

Hi Sophie,
I just tested retrieving this symbol, and it worked properly. Here are some things to check:
1) Make sure you don't have any spaces before/after the symbol 2) Check "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve" and make sure "Retrieve Price" is checked 3) If you retrieve current prices using Yahoo, does that work?

Thank you Mark, I'll try it again - when I last tried (a few hours ago) I was unable to retrieve historical prices from Yahoo for a number of investments (not just AGL), even thought I have been able to before. I'll try again now and see how I get on.

Hi again Mark,
How stupid of me - the "retrieve prices" box wasn't ticked. (It is on some of them though, is this something I've changed? I've never had to tick this box before).
This has sorted the problem for most of the investments I think, but the AGL one still isn't working, either for historical prices or current prices. I will keep trying, any other suggestions very welcome!
Thank you
Sophie

Hi Sophie, The properties under that "Internet Retrieve" tab are set to defaults based on the "Investment Type". Each investment type can have different defaults. So, for example, if you accidentally set this to be "Cash", it would not have the "Retrieve Price" option on by default. You can see/edit all these defaults under "Options / Internet Settings / New Investment Defaults...". This just sets these values for newly created investments. Once the investment is created, you can edit it to whatever makes sense. We have some generic instructions for fixing the issue of not being able to update a price here: https://www.fundmanagersoftware.com/faq ... ailure.phpI would suggest double checking that symbol and the "Retrieve Price" option. If you have a space character before/after the symbol, it can be hard to see, but will prevent the update from happening. You can erase the whole symbol, and re-enter it to be sure.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have deleted the symbol, and copied and pasted it in from another portfolio with the same investment (which I have been able to update previously), but I still can't get any results in.
I'll try again tomorrow!

Hi Sophie,
If it still isn't working tomorrow, you might try deleting the log file, retrieving, and then take a look in the log file to see if there are hints of the problem. The log file is:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Fund Manager\intlog2.txt

Hi again Mark,
It's still not working, for AGK.AX, GMI.AX, SPN.AX. WDC.AX and WRT.AX
I have been able to retrieve historical prices for all of these in the past (just last week).
However I've just looked at Yahoo Finance and when I look up these symbols, and search for historical prices, I get the message "Historical quote data is unavailable for the specified date range." So is this a Yahoo problem?
Thank you for all your help,
Sophie

I was being able to do it without any problem since months ago.
For example, Could you check these investments? - ZNH15.CBT - 6EM15.CME

Yes, the Yahoo Finance server is down currently. If you go to: http://finance.yahoo.comThey have a message saying they will be back up soon, and are working on it.

Thanks a lot Mark,
But, When I go to finance.yahoo.com, I don't find the information about the server.
Could you help us? Where is this information?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The Yahoo servers are back up. We had to release an update to Fund Manager though, as Yahoo made some changes. Just select "Help / Fund Manager on the Web / Check for Updates..." to download quote module 479 and that should restore the ability to retrieve from Yahoo.

I am having the same problem retrieving prices from yahoo asx/nz
However, I only have version 11 and when I check for updates it says The final quote module for 11.x was 457
Am I able to manually install the new module (where can I download it from) or will I have to buy an upgrade license?

Hi harry_p,
The updated quote module is only available for the 12.x and 2014 versions. You will need to upgrade in order to get the updated quote module. This is a maintenance item, and if you would like to continue receiving free updates you need to stay at least within the last 2 major versions.
