Wall Street Journal as quote server

We just released quote module 504 where we've added the "Wall Street Journal (Real-Time)" quote server. Thanks for the feedback and help on getting this server added to FM.

Hi Mark,

I tried using this to retrieve the price of gold, using "/futures/GOLD" (without the quotes), and also setting the FM Type to "Future". I tried it with the leading "/" and without. The WSJ page also shows GCJ7, so I tried this also. However, nothing seems to work.

I tried the same various combinations with SILVER (SIK7), but had the same results.

I have Quote Module 511 installed, and am using FM version 2016.14.13.

Is FundManager setup to retrieve futures from WSJ?

I see the same thing. It turns out there is no option to download prices for this symbol like there are for others. For example, if you go look at a regular stock, you will see a "All Sections / Historical Prices" menu where you can click "download a spreadsheet". This is where FM is getting prices from, and it isn't available for this symbol.

You can get prices for gold and silver from Quandl or FondsCheck though. See:

Hi Mark,

I have been using the Wall Street Journal server for getting closing DOW information for quite some time now.

However, as of yesterday, I am unable to retrieve this for either the current day or historical periods.

Did something go awry with this server?

Hi Dave,

Yes, the WSJ server is currently not providing quotes. You can see this yourself by using a web browser, looking up a quote, and in the "historical prices" section click "download a spreadsheet". That file is currently downloading empty. Hopefully they will get this fixed soon on their site.
