Portfolio failed to open

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

When I tried to start FM this morning, it said the portfolio couldn't be read and took me to the new Portfolio set up screen.

I retrieved a backup of the .mm4 file from my NAS drive, overwrote the existing file then opened that from FM. Is that the correct thing to do in this case?

The .mm4 file was from 4 February - what difference would that make? I haven't added any new stocks since then and all price date, including that which I added manually yesterday seems to be intact.

Hi progers1947,

Yes, the .mm4 file is your portfolio file, so that would be the correct file to restore. It may also have just been read-locked at the time for some reason. Maybe another program was using it (a backup program?) and preventing FM from opening it.
Thanks,
Mark
