Structurec Products Symbols

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

What is the proper symbol to enter for preferreds and structured products? For example, how would I enter a correct symbol for tracking PLC Capital Trust IV TOPrS Preferred Securities? It's listed and on Yahoo it would be PL_PA.

Hi 2whiteroses,

You just enter the symbol in Fund Manager as it is on the quote server you're using. Since Yahoo has it as PL_PA, this is how you would enter it in Fund Manager when using Yahoo as your quote server. To find other symbols, just visit Yahoo to determine what symbols they're using.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, but I cannot get that to work. I even have entered the CUSIP # but FM will not update price as PL_PA .... When I go to Yahoo Finance, PL_PA gives me an up to date price. I have also experimented with calling it a Bond or a closed-end fund or an option just to see if that would make a difference, but nothing got it to update..... This is NYSE listed. I have two others I am trying as well that I cannot get to update - BRS_ and FCX_PM

Hi 2whiteroses,

I just did a test retrieve of PL-PA from Yahoo, and it retrieved correctly. The CUSIP and investment type do not matter for retrieving prices, only the symbol matters. Please read this FAQ, and check your investment for the items mentioned here. If that doesn't resolve the issue please let me know.

Ahah! The correct symbol is PL-PA NOT PL_PA even though when using Yahoo directly, it is PL_PA. No matter. You solved my problem. Many thanks!
