Share Class Swap

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby George B » Thu Nov 09, 2017 4:29 pm

My brokerage house (Wells Fargo) swapped my shares of some funds for a new share class which has lower fees. Is there a way to change the ticker symbol, adjust the shares owned and still maintain my purchase history so I know how much money I invested in the fund.

Thanks

Hi George B,

You could do it a couple of ways:

1) Record a split with a ratio of <new shares> for <old shares>. Change the name/symbol/cusip properties of your investment. This is the easiest, and you only have 1 investment.

2) Use the "Transfer Between" wizard to transfer all your shares. This will result in you having 2 investments, with all the shares transferred on a particular date.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the help Mark. I used the split transaction method (simple is good) and it worked as you said..
