Importing Historical Vanguard data

I am trying to import some CSV formatted data from Vanguard that goes farther back than 18 month that Vanguard allows for OFX pull. I converted most of the transaction types to the proper TRAN key values, but not sure how to proceed with some transfer (cash deposit/withdrwal) type transactions. Based on the help file, it seems TXOUT/TXIN are the most appropriate keys, yet they expect a value for number of shares. How should I handle such transactions?
Hi Briarned,
If you are withdrawing or adding cash, this can be just a SELL or BUY of cash. Cash is just like any other investment, but you keep the price fixed at 1. So, if you withdraw $1,000, record a SELL of 1,000 shares at a price of $1/share.
I think it depends on the origin or destination of your cash. If the accounts are within Fund Manager, the transfer in/out would be used. In my case, retail bank accounts are where transactions like these begin or end. Since FM doesn't support retail banking (hint, hint, Mark), I just delete those transactions. However, if the cash originates in or is destined to another FM account, I use transfers instead.
