Yield shows NA

Hi Alan,
Usually NA values in yields are because of insufficient pricing data, or too tight of settings on how much interpolation is allowed. To find out the reason for an NA in a report, choose "Help / Logs / Report Calculation...". It will tell you the specific reason, so you can see how to correct it. Sorry, we weren't able to add this type of alert. It is something we've had on the list for a while, but hasn't made it in yet.
Hi Alan,
There is no log for the Portfolio Editor calculations, so calculate that same yield in a Report window, and then look at the report log. The Portfolio Editor calculates yields ending on the current date. So, create a Custom report with the field: ROI Yield (Between) Set the report date range to match the length of the yield term in the Portfolio Editor, and ending today. For example, if you have Yield 1y, the dates would be 11/2/18 - 11/1/19 to get the equivalent yield as shown in the Portfolio Editor.
Hi alan,
It is calculated. You need to have historical price data in order for the calculation to work. Specifically, you need pricing data for the beginning and ending dates of the yield term. For much more detail on yields, see the documentation on yields.
Only happens on a few non US shares The quotes are from yahoo uk swiss quote and yahoo uk and irelend They are set up the same as other investments using the same server yet in port editor retrurn yield NA I have tried what you advised no luck

Hi Alan,
What does the log file say when you created the Custom report with the yield field?
nable to calculate ROI yield for DIEGEO for date range 9/4/2013 - 11/1/2019. (Price for investment "DIEGEO" on 9/3/2013 could not be interpolated. Check pricing data or adjust "Yield Interpolation Range..." options.)
Unable to calculate ROI yield for NESTLE for date range 11/2/2011 - 11/1/2019. (Price for investment "NESTLE" on 11/1/2011 could not be interpolated. Check pricing data or adjust "Yield Interpolation Range..." options.) Unable to calculate ROI yield for COLGATE for date range 11/2/2011 - 4/25/2019. (Price for investment "COLGATE" on 11/1/2011 could not be interpolated. Check pricing data or adjust "Yield Interpolation Range..." options.)
Hi alan,
These log entries are saying that you don't have pricing recorded at the beginning of the yield term. For the example above, you were trying to calculate a yield for the date range of 9/4/2013 - 11/1/2019. When you calculate a yield, FM needs to know the price at the beginning and end. That error message is saying you don't have a price for the beginning (9/3/13). You can verify this by looking at your recorded closing prices for this investment in the Data Register. Even if you don't have a price recorded on exactly the needed date, but have prices near there, FM can "interpolate" a price for you. For example, if you're missing prices for a couple days, but you have the price before/after that, FM will interpolate based on surrounding prices. You control how this interpolation is done, and how flexible it should be in getting a price. See the "Options / Yield Interpolation Range..." dialog for these controls.
Hi alan,
Great, glad you got it fixed. Yes, you would need to purchase an "Upgrade" for FM 2020. You can buy this here. To order an upgrade you need to enter your prior license name and serial number, which you can find under "Help / About..." in the program.
