Like Kind exchange

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

How do you handle a like kind exchange between funds? I don't want to show a capital gain due to the exchange. I want the original cost basis should carry over to the new fund.
thanks

Hi John S,

There are multiple ways you can do this. Here are a couple:

1) Use the "Transfer Between" wizard. This will move all the open lots on the date of the transfer, keeping the cost basis. It uses transfer transactions to do this.

2) Just move the investment. Use drag/drop in the Portfolio Editor to move the whole investment to the desired new location. This moves the full investment, and all the history. No transactions are recorded.
Thanks,
Mark
