Yahoo Update Issues

For the past week, I have had problems updating from Yahoo. Historical seems to work a bit better, but not a complete update. Suggestions? Thanks

Hi jnewton,

Can you provide a specific example of a ticker symbol that won't update, or that updates incorrectly from Yahoo? Are you using the latest quote module (562)?

Yes using module 562
Ticker Examples: AAPL last update 9/24, ABT last update 9/24, BAC last update 9/24.
These were updated on 9/25 using HST icon (Yahoo-historical)

Internet retrieve settings are set on <Default Server>
PRC icon in toolbar says YAHOO

Hi jnewton,

I just now test retrieved AAPL from Yahoo and it correctly retrieved a price for 9/27. Here are some things to check:

1) Is your investment enabled for retrieve? Check "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve".
2) How are you determining the last price was for 9/24? Where are you looking exactly?
3) If you look under "Help / Logs / Price Retrieve..." do you see it request a price for AAPL? It should look something like this in the log:

Yes Investments are enabled.

Getting price dates from each position Price history in the Portfolio position detail

Looked at Price logs for last several days many requests show up properly in the log but are not reflected/updated in the price history.
For example: ABBV is first stock requested. In Price Log: 107.72 on 9/27which is correct. But price history shows 107.07 on 9/24. 9/27 prices do not show.

Others such as AAPL, ABT, and BAC are not in the 9/27 price log or price history

Prices worked fine on 9/22. 9/23 about 20 out of about 150 prices didn't show up in Price History properly. 9/24 situation reversed only about 20 of 150 downloaded properly. During that time updated price module and updated program to latest release. To be clear, problem was occurring before updating but updating did not correct issue

You'll notice about 2/3rd of the 9/22 request are not in the 9/27 request

Hi jnewton,

To keep things more manageable, let's focus on a single investment. It looks like ABBV was updated, but in your data of the Price History it is not showing. Where are you viewing this Price History? In the Data Register under the data type of "Prices"? Are you sorting the Data Register by date? Notice you can click on any column's header in that list, and it will sort by that column. If you're not sorting by date, it may be recorded, but you won't see it at the top of the list.

Yes I am viewing the prices in the data register and yes they are sorted by date.

A couple of things: I changed the default server this morning to: Yahoo (RealTime) and it looks like things have updated.

Also I have a lot of 'dead stocks' and old portfolios that are still active. Wondering if turning off updates on these stocks and portfolios would help.

Hi jnewton,

You can go to "Investment Properties... / Internet Retrieve", and turn off "Retrieve price" for any investments you don't want updating. Also, you can use "File / File Operations / Hide Sold Investments..." which can also turn off the price retrieve option for your sold investments.
