WIN 10 Glich with Upgrade

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby pdgood » Fri May 06, 2022 8:00 am

The program appears to load from the task bar but immediately minimizes and then will not respond....!?

Note: I have the Upgrade on Win 7 as well and have no issues. My browser is FireFox for both machines. I've no problems with other applications on 10.

Your help is appreciated in advance.

PS: I really like your choice in USP stamps!

Hi Phil,

Can you try uninstalling it, and re-installing?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I have not tried to re-install . Will this pick-up my portfolios at the set-up even after I uninstall?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

No, it wouldn't re-open your same portfolio automatically if you uninstall. When you uninstall all your global preferences are removed. You would have to use "File / Open Portfolio..." to re-open it.

If you're comfortable using regedit, you can try fixing this issue without uninstalling. I suspect some window size/position preference is messed up, and you can remove this by doing this:

1) Exit Fund Manager if it is running
2) Use "regedit" and delete the key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Beiley Software\Fund Manager\CurrentVersion\Window

3) Re-start Fund Manager
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Just to be clear, after the uninstall/reinstall will my existing portfolio files still be available? Or will I need to re-enter,ie., create them again?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

Uninstalling does not remove your data files. It just removes the program and your preferences. You would have to re-install Fund Manager, start up the program, and use "File / Open Portfolio..." to open your *.mm4 file. Do you know where your *.mm4 file is located now? The default is:

My Documents \ Fund Manager

but you can store your data anywhere. If you're not sure, and you can't open FM, you can search your computer for *.mm4 to find where your portfolio file is located.

So, no, you would not have to re-enter your re-enter your portfolio data.
Thanks,
Mark
