How to do a spin off

On 4-13-22 ATT (T) spun off Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) How do I work thru that. T kept all the shares that they had prior to the spinoff and WBD started business on April 13th with x number of shares. Also would the cost basis of the new WBD shares be determined.

Use the Spin-Off Wizard. Right mouse click on your ATT investment, and choose "Investment Data / Spin-Off...". This will create the new child (WBD) based on the information you enter.

To find your cost basis in WBD you can ask your broker, tax advisor, or try to research the details of the spin-off yourself online. You'll need to know the amount of the cost basis transferred and the market value to record the spin-off.
