Yahoo Realtime Quotes very slow

Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby jnewton » Wed Aug 14, 2024 8:31 am

About 4 months ago (April 24) my Yahoo realtime quotes slowed dramatically and would skip about 20% of the quotes. Takes over an hour to download quotes. Historical quotes works fine-downloads prices in about 5-10 minutes, but i have to wait until about 6pm to download prices. In the past when the quote module got wonky, a new update generally fixed the problem. But this has been going on for 4 months. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi jnewton,

Which quote module version are you using? See "Help / FM on the Web / Check for Updates...".

It is in the nature of how quotes are requested from "Yahoo (Real-Time)". It won't be very fast. If you're looking for much better performance, please check out the "Yahoo" server instead. I believe that "Yahoo" provides almost real-time quotes, but in a much more efficient manner.
Thanks,
Mark

MArk:
Thanks for quick response. I am using Quote Module 606, which I believe is the most current.
So I believe you are saying to switch from Yahoo Realtime to just Yahoo and that should improve response. Is that correct?

Hi jnewton,

Under "Options / Internet Settings..." you can set the "default" quote servers. These may be overridden in each investment's properties, so you will want to check those too. You can change investment properties here one investment at a time, or globally by investment type or symbol.
Thanks,
Mark
