Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

I have no idea how I set this up and can't see anywhere how to do so? Can you advise?

Hi Bsrr,

See "Options / General Preferences... / Other / Daily Portfolio Price(s) Alert". You can enable it here, and set a time for it to go off. Press "Help" in that dialog for more details on how this works, which will show you this:

Send Price Update at

Enables sending a daily portfolio price(s) alert. When this feature is turned on, an alert will be activated each weekday at the specified time. This is a unique alert, independent of your investment price alerts. Your current alert options will determine how the alert will be sent. This alert only uses the e-mail type of notification. E-mail notifications will report the current price of all open investments. The portfolio price(s) alert setting is memorized as part of your portfolio.

Hi Mark - I decided to evaluate using Parallels and Windows 11 vs Crossover even though the prior is more costly to startup with (Windows license needed) but close to same price on Parallels vs Crossover on an annual basis. FYI - Crossover has always worked for me with a few minor items I have noticed thus far.

Regarding this thread. Under Parallels/Windows 11 I can't get Alert or Daily Update emails to work because I get this error message (this feature does work with Crossover I assume because there is no "real" Windows OS involved) - "Could not initialize Simple MAPI". Even though I used Regedit to set up the string "MAPI" with a value of 1 I get the same message. After reading through some other posts I think I understand why. I am using Apple mail as my email client on my Mac and I assume it is not considered a "local" client for Parallels/Windows 11 purposes (I did go to Default Apps in Windows and set my Mac Email as the default too).

I realize Parallels/Windows is non standard implementation but wondering if you have any thoughts on how I can solve this problem when using Parallels/Windows 11? I could not find any info specific to this issue in the forum. Thanks.

Hi Bsrr,

When you "Configure..." the email alert options, there are 2 options:

1) Use MAPI Client for Sending Mail
2) Send Directly to Mail Server

It sounds like you're using the first one, which does use MAPI, and requires a MAPI compatible email client. If possible, try switching to using the second option, and enter the credentials of your SMTP mail server. This does not rely on any other software being installed.
