Questions about updating prices or transactions in Fund Manager

Postby share » Thu Jan 10, 2008 9:39 am

1. Data register dialog doesn't have CANCEL button, it has DONE button. If I made mistake, I can not cancel.

2. When "Assign lot" dialog bring up after adding a transaction, the G/L of the symbol becomes N.A. Can you keep the value of G/L?

3. In Report Investment window, how to not show cash transaction? Stock is all I am care of. Better to have an option in "Report Setting" for "Investment Transactions" type.

Hello share,

Thanks for the feedback. A couple comments...

1) You're right, there is no 'cancel' or undo for recording transactions. You can of course re-edit the data, or if you want to cancel everything, you can simply exit Fund Manager without saving. Make sure "Options / Save Investments on Exit" is turned off, and then quit FM.

2) I didn't understand this one? What G/L are you looking at that is NA? Is this in some report? Maybe you are referring to the Capital Gains - Specific Lot report? If so, you must fully specify all sell transactions in order to use this report and accounting method.

3) Yes, this report could use some more filtering type options. If you wanted to exclude any cash transactions, you could temporarily drag the cash account out of this sub-portfolio, and then drag it back when you're done. You can do this in the Portfolio Editor.
Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark,

1) Is it possible to include CANCEL button in the dialog box? There may be other box too.

2) Yes, I am refering "Capital Gains - Specific Lot report". Since no change in Lot yet, NA is a little confuse.

3) That's cool.

Hi Share,

1) Yes, it is definitely possible. Since you can do so much (add/edit/delete multiple transactions from multiple investments) in this dialog, it would be a rather large effort to add a Cancel button here. I agree it would be nice to have though.
Thanks,
Mark
