Consolidating FM Data

General questions about using Fund Manager that do not fit into any other forum.

Postby Gally » Fri Jan 15, 2010 11:23 am

I have been using FM to track investments relative to my UK ISA investments on an annual basis.

I now have a portfolio for every year which is becoming unwieldly to manage. Many of these portfolios now have the same fund. I have also made several fund changes within the portfoios and ued transfers between funds.

Whilst this method was initially convenient when each annual investment was a different fund but I am now in a position where there now many instances of the same fund in multiple portfolios.

I am thinking it would be better to maintain only one instance of a Portfolio and fund to make it eaier to record investments and income. But I cannot see a clear way of converting what I have into a new simpler version.

Can you please suggest a method of consolidation that maintains the ROI and distribution reporting for the overall investments. I am happy to loose the 'annual portfolios' I have previously used.

Many thanks

Hi Gally,

It is usually best to just keep all your records in one portfolio file. If you want to merge different investment files into one, you may just want to use copy/paste to transfer all the transactions. In the Data Register you can select all the same type of transactions at once, and then copy them to the clipboard. Move to your desired destination investment, and paste them.
Thanks,
Mark
